“A nation that does not know its history is destined to repeat it.”

To help 8th-grade students connect with history in the digital age, Vodafone launched Istori@, Romania’s first comic-style interactive history textbook app. Developed for the country’s centenary, the app transformed official textbook content into engaging digital comic narratives.

By scanning photos in their textbooks, students could access illustrated lessons on their smartphones, blending education with entertainment. A multidisciplinary team of specialists created 35 lessons with over 400 illustrations, and the project reached more than 120 schools across the country.

Istori@ successfully turned traditional history learning into a fun, visually engaging, and academically accurate digital experience.
